MALA RODRIGUEZ

La Mala Rodríguez is a pioneering Spanish rapper and singer who broke through in the late 1990s/early 2000s with a sharp, with a distinctive blend of hip hop attitude with Andalusian roots. Her debut album Lujo Ibérico (2000) became a defining statement for Spanish-language rap, pushing her from the underground into the wider public conversation.

She followed that early impact by evolving her sound across albums like Alevosía (2003) and Malamarismo (2007), then leaning into a more international, high-gloss urban palette on Dirty Bailarina (2010). With Bruja (2013), she doubled down on intensity and identity—keeping her writing direct and fearless while moving fluidly between rap, melody, and Latin urban textures.

Her career has also been marked by major industry recognition: she won the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Song in 2010 for “No Pidas Perdón”, and later won Best Urban Music Album for Bruja, achievements that helped cement her as a trailblazer for women in the genre. In total, she’s credited with 2 Latin Grammy wins and 8 nominations (as listed by the Latin Recording Academy), and she’s continued releasing new work in recent years, including MALA (2020) and UN MUNDO RARO (2024).
